One Moment

Well, Muggle Quidditch.

That’s right! As part of a fundraising effort for OneMoment, we’re planning on holding a Dalhousie Quidditch event sometime this semester. We’re still in the early planning stages at the moment, and would like to gauge the amount of interest in the Dalhousie population. Namely, we need Quidditch teams.

We’re currently aiming for four teams - ideally all teams will get together before the actual event to learn the rules of Muggle Quidditch and have a few games against each other. Each team member will be charged a $2 entrance fee to help us cover some costs and will be responsible for their own team costume (only cloaks are mandatory). BYOB (bring your own broom - mandatory. You can’t fly without a broom!) as well, no sharpened ends please.

If you’re interested in getting a team together, contact me or post on facebook with your preferred position and teammates. You don’t need all seven people to make a team - feel free to sign up as an individual as well and I’ll slot you into a group.

Check out this facebook group for a general overview of Muggle Quidditch. We’re currently working on getting our paws on the official rulebook which will be made available to interested players: Intercollegiate Quidditch Association.

THESE ARE THE POSITIONS THAT WILL NEED FILLIN’:
Three Chasers: handle a quaffle (deflated soccer ball) and attempt to score goals
One Keeper: a goalie, who tries to prevent the other team from scoring goals
Two Beaters: who will run around the field belting the opposing team with bludgers (dodgeballs)
One Seeker: whose job it is to catch the Golden Snitch before the other team’s Seeker

ALSO, we need a Snitch (preferably three, at least two). We’re looking for FAST ENDURANCE RUNNERS here, as the Snitch will be given a large area to wander while the Seekers are in hot pursuit.

Not interested in the athletic side of things? If you’ve got wit and a funny hat, we also need two commentators familiar with the Potter-verse!
